Calibri font search; I love Calibri

Posted under Technology

Ever since I started using .Net 3.0 and Visual Studio 2008 in on of our development projects, I am hooked to the Calibri font. It’s smooth, readable, photoshopped like appearance makes any WPF, Silverlight app bring in immediate interest from an artistic user.

I discovered it when I was building a WPF designer to manage Xml files inside Visual Studio, using VSX. I was thinking it was all part of the Studio or .Net 3.0/3.5. Apparently not.
On a brand new machine I installed Studio 08, which also installs .Net 3.5 and I can’t find my Calibri font.

Well, after googling it out, on Digital Inspiration blog I found the answer

Windows Vista includes several new fonts based on ClearType that can be used on Windows XP as well as Macs. These beautiful typefaces were created

Unfortunately, Microsoft doesn’t provide a direct way to download these fonts without buying Windows Vista, especially for improving the on-screen reading experience in Vista.
